Natural stone is a very important component in many of our gardens. Granites, bluestones, sandstones and the many river stones, beach pebbles and gravels offer a pallet almost as diverse as the plants they frame. Sometimes just a border or infill will be enough to break up a concrete surface creating both visual interest and a permeable surface to manage stormwater. We have used stone in driveways, walks, curbs, patios, walls and containers often with openings to support low-growing sedums, ajugas and creeping thymes.
