Park Place Three

Escaped bamboo and poor deck detailing required a complete redesign and reconstruction of this modernist garden completed less than 10 years ago. We were able to reuse 100% of the Ipe decking and river stones after clearing out all of the escaped bamboo rhizomes and deteriorated substructure. The reconfigured deck provides more space for plants and functional areas for dining, entertaining and quiet contemplation.

New plantings of native grasses, shrubs and meadow wildflowers among dry stone riverbeds weave between ascending Ipe platforms and curving concrete-rubble retaining walls. Completely transformed and more natural, the garden still reflects the movement of water, the warmth of wood, the strength of stone and the reassuring presence of plants, while responding to our client's request for economy and a low maintenance garden.

Completion is scheduled for Spring 2017
